Life Story

Dr.Pillay

Dr. Pillay was one of Baba's most intimate devotees, and Baba affectionately called him "Bhau". He spent long periods in Shirdi, sitting close to Baba in the Dwarakamai.

The Satcharitra tells how Dr. Pillay suffered terribly from guinea worm in his leg, with seven worms causing swelling and pain. In his agony he asked Baba to let him finish the suffering of ten future births in ten days. Baba gently refused, and instead told him that a crow would come and peck the worm out, and he would be cured.

Soon after, Abdul came in to trim the lamps and accidentally stepped hard on Pillay's bandaged leg. Pillay cried out in pain, and the worms were squeezed out. Baba laughed and said, "Here is the crow." Within days the leg healed. Dr. Pillay passed away later in Shirdi, close to the Master he loved.
