HariSitaramDixit-Kaka

Hari Sitaram Dixit, lovingly called Kakasaheb, was born in 1864 and became a leading solicitor in Bombay and a member of the Bombay Legislative Council. In 1906 he injured his leg in a railway accident in London and was left lame. Nanasaheb Chandorkar told him of Baba, and in November 1909 he came to Shirdi hoping to be cured. He later said Baba healed not the lameness of his leg but the lameness of his mind.

Kakasaheb gave up much of his practice and spent long periods in Shirdi. In 1911 he built the Dixit Wada, where devotees stayed and where he read the scriptures every day. Baba tested his faith many times. The Satcharitra tells how Baba once asked him to kill a goat; Kaka took the knife without hesitation, and Baba stopped him, showing that his obedience was complete.

Baba promised that he would take Kaka away "in a vimana", a heavenly vehicle. On 5 July 1926, Kakasaheb was travelling by train in Bombay with Hemadpant, talking happily of Baba, when he passed away peacefully on the spot. Devotees saw it as the fulfilment of Baba's promise. He also served as the first secretary of the Shirdi Sansthan.
