Life Story

Nanasaheb Nimonkar

Nanasaheb Nimonkar was the hereditary watandar (land officer) of Nimon and an honorary magistrate. He was a devoted follower who spent much of his time in Shirdi with his wife, serving Baba with quiet faithfulness.

The Satcharitra tells how Mrs. Nimonkar once had to rush home because her son had fallen ill. She went to Baba for permission, and Baba told her to go and come back soon, and to keep her mind calm. She found her son better, and she returned to Shirdi as Baba had said.

Nimonkar was among the devotees close to Baba in his final days in October 1918. As Baba's end drew near, Nimonkar tried to pour water into Baba's mouth, but it flowed out, and soon after Baba left his body. He remained a respected elder among Baba's devotees.
