Life Story

Narasimha Swamy

B. V. Narasimha Swamiji was born in 1874 and became a successful lawyer in Salem and a member of the Madras Legislative Council. After the deaths of two of his children, he gave up worldly life in 1925 and set out in search of God. He stayed with Ramana Maharshi and wrote one of the first biographies of him, and spent time with Upasani Maharaj at Sakori.

In 1936 he came to Shirdi and found his true Guru in Sai Baba. He travelled across Maharashtra, meeting Baba's surviving devotees and recording their statements. These became the books "Devotees' Experiences of Sri Sai Baba" and "Life of Sai Baba", which preserved memories that would otherwise have been lost.

In 1939 he founded the All India Sai Samaj in Mylapore, Madras, and travelled tirelessly, giving talks and distributing Baba's pictures and udi. Through his work, Sai worship spread throughout South India and beyond. He passed away in 1956, and many call him the apostle of Sai Baba.
