Madurai Charitable Trust wanted to help families who love and care for their elders but who are constrained by space or manpower due to nuclear families that have no room for attendants, etc. as is common in cities. Madurai Charitable Trust thought that the senior citizens should have a comfortable place to spend the evening of their lives with dignity and courage. Senior citizens have very little help as most old age homes concentrate on the fit and fine people who can take care of their own personal hygiene. With these ideas, Akash Age Care Home took on its present shape with the motto of "HELP EVER HURT NEVER".Akash age care Home was started with the old aged people of the society in year 2003, in the past 8years. the home has served about 70 old age people of the society by providing them food, accomodation and shelter at free of cost. About 3 staffs are there to look after the day to day needs of the inmates. Furnished accommodation available for 45 residents, vegetarian food, regular doctor visits, basic medical equipments and all maintenance facilities including laundry and also a separate Prayer and Meditation HallThere is a strong and dedicated core of volunteers who organize the activities, professionals provide time and expertise to projects and the communities/ service recipients are encouraged to participate, support and if appropriate, manage the projects. Madurai Charitable Trust is only 9 years old and already has many projects operating.
